About Wanda Brookes

As far as Wanda can remember she has always painted, landscape painting is her passion. Wanda draws on memories from her childhood playing and enjoying the freedom of the wide open spaces around the Derbyshire countryside.

Wanda was born in Derby and now lives in Wirksworth Derbyshire.

She was awarded a High Commendation for her Textile Designs in Creative Studies in 1997 by the City and Guilds Institution.

From this she went onto study Fine Art at the University of Derby where she graduated in 2003. She now works as a self-employed artist selling and working on private commissions, and has held solo exhibitions at the Little Gallery in Belper and Opus Gallery in Ashbourne.

She has been a regular exhibitor at the Wirksworth Arts Festival, where she sold several paintings. Following these exhibition’s she acquired work on several commission paintings from architecture to landscapes.

Wanda was awarded a John Wright prize for her exhibit in the 2011 Derby City Open with her watercolour Autumn Gold.
